UPCOMING WEBINAR ON THE CONTRIBUTION OF RWANDAN YOUTH VOLUNTEERS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THE PANDEMIC

Over the past five months, Rwanda has been grappling with the novel coronavirus. This virus has shaken every aspect of Rwandans’ life, and the things once thought to be impossible or to never would have happened, unfolded in front of everyone’s sight. Measures had to be put in place to fight the COVID-19 around the world. The government of Rwanda needed more man power in such a short and unplanned manner which resulted into imploring the help of the youth, for they are believed to be the motor of the country.
They are known as the youth volunteers in their green jackets at every space where people could be crowded like the bus parks, bus stops, churches or markets. Their role is to remind people about measures of curbing the spread of the virus such as wearing the facemasks properly, washing or sanitizing hands before boarding the buses or before entering the churches.
Their work shouldn’t go unnoticed and should be a source of inspiration for their peers. It is with that in mind that ALU Model United Nations supported by Rwanda We Want organization organized a webinar on the contribution of youth volunteers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in Rwanda. This webinar is part of their digital campaign aiming to acknowledge and express appreciation and support for the work done by the youth volunteers in Rwanda during these tough times of the pandemic.
Taking place on Sunday 6th September, the webinar will bring together varsity and high school students in Rwanda, various main actors in the fight against COVID-19 as well as the youth volunteers to share their experience for others to draw inspiration from their commendable work.
Among other things, from 04:45 PM till 06:00 PM, the role of the youth in the fight against COVID-19 will be discussed and they will be reminded about the importance and the urgency of the battle against the novel coronavirus.
